A short post from a tired teacher

"Energy balls": Andy gives a cooking lesson
Quick update on this week:
Julie and Maddy expedite
the ice cream process

  • Yesterday we made ice cream with Ms. Julie! We mixed half & half, brown sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla in big plastic bags, placed those bags in even bigger bags with ice and rock salt, and shook vigorously (with behind-the-scenes help from teachers) until it became ice cream. Today we decorated cupcakes with Ms. Crissy (and baked by her mom!).
  • Yet another reason to love Green Street: Mr. Steve, a local math teacher, happened to stop by with his banjo to sing us math songs during lunch. Amazing.
  • Books this week have included Green Eggs and Ham, Pancakes, Pancakes, Pancakes for Breakfast, Blueberries for Sal, Heroes of the Vegetable Patch, Fruits and Vegetables A to Z, and Bread and Jam for Frances. We've been talking a lot about trying new foods, especially healthy fruits and vegetables. For snacks, we've had pears, peaches, peppers, avocado (A HUGE SUCCESS), granola bars, and veggie chips.
  • We're loving being all together at GSAC. Quiet time in the dance studio turns out to be much better because the kids have a lot more space and we're able to almost completely dim the lights. More the half the kids are actually napping now, which makes the afternoon so much more pleasant.
